Having just won the IBJJF Masters Worlds at blue belt I thought I should drop down to the adult division for blue belt heavyweight.
The six man bracket was tough. I won the first match one advantage to zero. The next guy ran me over. He was as strong and much faster. I took third. Welcome to the adult division.
I signed up for the open division and lost my first match. The guys were respectful and made comments that they hoped that they could still be completing when they get to be my age. I always have mixed feelings about those comments. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not upset, I take it as a complement, but I also wonder why they think “my age” is so old. 🙂
